Illuminated Works at Grinnell

Illuminated Works at Grinnell was started in the spring of 2022 as a digital resource to support the unique illuminated materials at Grinnell College. A strong teaching collection of rare books, Special Collections at Grinnell collaborates with faculty and student scholars on our liberal arts campus and welcomes scholars from around the world to work with one of a kind material. In 2019 the college acquired the Salisbury House Library Collection  which includes a number of illuminated works. The Grinnell College Museum of Art and Print and Drawing Study Room also holds a number of illuminated examples. This digital project will highlight historic illuminated materials, on going research, and provide a look into unique holdings found at Grinnell.
